Erectile dysfunction medications took in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large amounts of unlicensed medicines have been seized by Department of Health authorities during a search of a house in Glengormley.

A male was talked to by department officers about illegally importing and consequently providing unlicensed impotence medications by means of the internet.

The 47-year-old was also about other medication offences.

He will now be the topic of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, stated: "It is vital that we get the message across that unlicensed medications can be harmful.

"These kinds of products being sold, usually online, have gone through no quality assurance and there can be no guarantee about their safety.

"You merely do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More importantly, you do not know the result drugs like this might have on your health."
